This update provides training information and free downloadable resources to help managers, team leaders and workers create a positive and inclusive workplace.

Training to improve workplace performance on diversity and inclusion can take staff time and a budget line that is not always available to business owners and managers. We understand that for small/medium-sized businesses, this might mean the difference between being able to offer training to your staff, or not.

With this in mind, we have partnered with Perks People Solutions to create EQUAL at Work, a set of free and easy-to-use downloadable fact sheets offering five training modules.

Each EQUAL at Work module contains a Manager Guide and an Employee Fact Sheet designed to be delivered in less than 20 minutes.

All you need to do is allocate a little time in your next team meeting to run through the topic using the Manager Guide and hand out the fact sheet.

The modules help managers and workers understand more about how to build a positive workplace culture by addressing current or potential common problem areas, including:

Module 1: Workplace discrimination occurs when a person or group is treated less favourably at work because of a personal characteristic, rather than their skills.

Module 2: Unconscious biases are assumptions, beliefs, or attitudes that we aren't aware we have, but which can reinforce negative stereotypes.

Module 3: Workplace bullying is repeated unreasonable behaviour directed at a worker, or group of workers, that creates a risk to their health and safety (including psychological health).

Module 4: Sexual harassment is any unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature where it is unreasonable to expect that the other person would be offended, afraid, or humiliated.

Module 5: Bystander awareness helps your workers understand the role they play in shaping positive workplace culture to combat discrimination, bullying and harassment.
